Digital data overload: Doctors say patients come into office misinformed

We are in are the age of digital information. Everyone searches the web to find any and all information they may need. But not all information online is accurate and a lot may be misleading, especially medical information. Doctors are finding more and more patients coming to the office with preconceived notions which are totally inaccurate.

All of this online information is increasing the time medical practices and physicians need to spend explaining things to patients because what they found online and now believe to be true, but it is not. In a recent study surveying 240 physicians, 82% said in recent years patients are contacting the office with medical questions due to what they find online, since medical information has become so readily available, but what they have found or read online, is not always correct.
