Officials Announce Health Care Tech Rules, Amid Coronavirus Crisis
While coronavirus is at the top of public interest and concern, the Trump administration is pushing new rules to help a long time problem in healthcare.
The federal government invested over $30 billion a decade ago to help convert computerized records, but the problem of different medical systems interacting with one another still persists. Patients cannot easily access their records. The two rules finalized aim to finally find a solution.
Worry that the complex regulations would undermind patient privacy.
The rule also tried to address a very simple problem that is already in use in the financial industry. Patients should be able to easily access their records via software used by smartphone apps like ones that handle banking and credit cards. Patient would literally have access at the tip of their fingertips at any time from anywhere.
