What do Procter & Gamble, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Braxton Brewing Co. and Tom + Chee have in common? They all opened their doors to the public as part of a global event focused on innovation on July 23.
NewCo Cincinnati is part of the NewCo global series of events – more like a festival – that combine elements of a conference, open house, job fair and networking happy hour. About 85 companies participated on Thursday, and more than 880 people signed up in advance to attend.
NewCo was created by John Battelle, a founding editor at Wired and chairman and former CEO of Federated Media. Battelle told me that NewCo was born out of his frustration with traditional startup conferences where the attendees weren’t always the most enthusiastic and the quality of interaction wasn’t the best.
